To mark International Women’s day here are some thoughts from a few of the many females within Alliance Delivery Shipping Ltd.
“Having been in logistics for over 25 years, I have seen a number of senior boardroom appointments made to women in that time. I have been inspired by my female leaders in a male dominated environment and honestly believe that regardless of your gender, you can succeed through sustained effort and tenacity. I am proud to lead an all-female team in my franchise. We are confident in our ability to provide the best possible solution, price and service. I don’t believe that any of our male colleagues or customers doubt our expertise or commitment to being the leading same day transport provider in our area.”

I have spent my whole career in Logistics and it’s fair to say there’s not much I haven’t been involved in over this period of time. People often think of logistics and see the truck and driver out on the road, but there is so much more to it. The requirements are simple, a good work ethic, a logical mind and the ability to roll your sleeves up when the going gets tough, that’s what makes you a success. I started out working as a P.A. to William Stobart and my career has touched transport planning, warehousing, accounts, contract management and now as National Business Development Manager for Alliance Delivery Shipping Ltd, a strategic view into how we continue to grow our already successful same day courier service.

Having only recently returned to full-time work after many years of working part-time, I do believe full-time working mums often need to be Wonder Women in order to achieve both their business and family aims. The logistics of juggling these demands can be a challenge, one which I am determined to combat. This means without you necessarily knowing it, you have developed the skills that many businesses are in search of to achieve success; crucial prioritisation, organisational and problem solving abilities.
